Synopsis

Pedal to the metal, baby. Rigo (2023) is not your average sports story, it’s a full-throttle novela thrill ride. Based on the real-life legend Rigoberto Urán, this biopic on two wheels zooms through the gritty streets of Colombia straight into the heart of international cycling. One minute he’s a small-town kid hustling to make ends meet, the next he’s dodging crashes and kissing podiums on the global stage with the whole world watching.

Played with fiery charm by Juan Pablo Urrego, Rigo isn’t just chasing medals – he’s racing against tragedy, fame, heartbreak, and the wild ride of believing in yourself when nobody else will. Behind the sweat and speed there’s a mother who never let him fall, a love story that keeps him grounded, and rivals that push him to his limit.

Review

What got us cheering:
This one hits where it counts – Rigo’s underdog journey is equal parts tearjerker and fist-pump, with a lead performance full of charm and heart. Add in cinematic visuals, Colombian pride in every frame, and a hero who’s allowed to be messy and human, and it’s hard not to get pulled in.

Where the wheels wobbled:
At 99 episodes, the pacing loses its rhythm – dragging in parts, rushing in others. And despite the true-story roots, a few too many novela-style moments soften its realism.

Telebesitos Tip 💋
Think of it like a cycling stage – some stretches drag, but the big emotional climbs make it worth crossing the finish line.
