Synopsis

In Ringo (Ringo: la pelea de su vida, 2018), José Ron ditches the polished heartthrob routine and goes full underdog mode. He’s a retired boxer swinging for more than titles – this time it’s custody of his son and a shot at rebuilding his life after love and career both sucker-punched him. Expect heartbreak, healing, and training montages galore.

The show drops us into the scrappy, sweat-and-heart world of amateur boxing. José Ron stars as Ringo Ramírez, a good guy boxer trying to rebuild his life after tragedy knocks him flat. He’s raising his young son, juggling money problems, and trying to stay out of trouble while the boxing world keeps pulling him back into the ring. Enter Alejandra (Mariana Torres), a kind-hearted doctor dealing with her own messy marriage, and suddenly Ringo’s life has both a love story and a comeback story brewing at the same time. Around them swirl gym rivalries, family drama, shady promoters, and enough emotional punches to keep the gloves on for the full run.

It’s part sports drama, part family saga, and pure Televisa heart. Think bruises and betrayal, knockouts and novela kisses – Ringo delivers a comeback story that’s both dramatic and emotional.

Based on: Sos mi hombre (2012)

Review

What knocked us out:
José Ron trades glossy leading-man charm for something far more raw and bruised – and trust us, it works. His performance is messy, tender, and surprisingly vulnerable, sneaking under your guard until suddenly you’re crying on the ropes.

Where the gloves came off:
The rough-and-tumble spirit of the original ( Sos mi hombre, 2012) feels like it got wrapped in a very expensive telenovela filter. This adaptation got the full Televisa glow-up: glossy visuals, dramatic pauses stretched to the limit, and meaningful stares across the gym. It’s not bad at all, just… peak Televisa.

Worth watching?
Absolutely. Especially if you’re in the mood for a working-class hero story with heartfelt family moments, and just enough romance to soften all those punches.

Telebesitos Tip 💋
It’s got a working-class charm, a steady emotional burn, and José Ron finally proves he’s not just a pretty face – he’s a whole redemption arc with abs.
