Synopsis

The drama in Eternamente amándonos (2023) starts when Paula (Alejandra Robles Gil), a savvy city girl, marries small-town tech bro Rogelio (Marcus Ornellas) – and skips the whole “meet the family” step. Big mistake, girl. HUGE.

This Mexican telenovela dropped on Las Estrellas serving romance, generational clash, and pure suegra chaos. Alejandra Robles Gil and Marcus Ornellas lead this slow-burn love story that proves sometimes marriage is just the prequel to family drama.

When big-city sweetheart Paula Bernal says “I do” to small-town heir Rogelio Iturbide, she has no idea she’s also marrying into high-key drama. The couple ties the knot without telling Rogelio’s ultra-traditional (and lowkey terrifying) mother, Martina Rangel. Spoiler alert: Martina does not do surprises.

Martina, queen of Morelia’s social scene and master of manipulation, isn’t about to let some modern, independent woman mess with her legacy. She’s sacrificed everything for appearances, and now she’s serving shady side-eyes and calculated chaos like it’s afternoon tea. When Paula moves in, it’s pearls vs. passion, and tradition vs. girlboss vibes, Who said love conquers all when la suegra has other plans?

Based on: İstanbullu Gelin (Turkey, 2017)

Review

Where it shined:
Paula and Rogelio’s relationship is juicy to watch. They have the whole opposites attract thing going and the chemistry is there. Paula’s big-city energy clashing with Martina’s old-school snobbery is a whole show in itself. Diana Bracho proves once again what a pro she is. Is she exhausting? Absolutely. But also legendary. Over-the-top in all the right ways,

What didn’t land:
The meddling mother-in-law thing has been done a thousand different ways and this one didn’t do enough to make it stand out as a classic in the genre. Also, for all its emotional highs, some storylines feel a little half-baked – or worse, straight-up predictable.

Telebesitos Tip 💋
If passive-aggressive in-laws, secret pasts, and marriage sabotage are your thing… you’re in the right church. It’s not reinventing the genre, but it’s a solid, satisfying ride. Very sweet while it’s on – and very forgettable once the credits roll.
