In El extraño retorno de Diana Salazar (2024), Diana (played by telenovela queen Angelique Boyer) is a modern-day woman with serious déjà vu, visions of witch trials, and telekinetic freak-outs that scream “not your average Tuesday.” Turns out, she’s the reincarnation of a woman wrongfully executed in the 1600s, and naturally, when she figures this out she’s back with a vengeance.
Sebastián Rulli is her love interest (and maybe her past-life flame), stirring up a cosmic romance that’s star-crossed, cursed, and dangerously hot. As Diana dives deeper into her supernatural origins, she uncovers a web of lies, betrayal, and magic that refuses to stay buried.
Past lives, psychic powers, and major witchy vibes, it’s a full-blown spiritual thriller with vintage drama and modern flair. Three seasons, infinite karma, and a heroine who’s literally out for blood (and justice).
Based on: El extraño retorno de Diana Salazar (1988)
Where the magic hits:
The concept alone is a standout, no question. And come on, it’s Angelique – she stays booked and busy for a reason. As Diana, she brings a quiet intensity that grounds the chaos, and when the story leans into the mystical, she glows. Visions, vibes, and vengeance are all on the menu, and yes… we’re eating.
What didn’t cast a spell:
When it came to the chemistry between real-life pareja Angelique Boyer and Sebastián Rulli, we were expecting scorched-earth, soulmates-in-every-lifetime heat… and somehow, it just didn’t ignite. Did you feel it? Because we didn’t.
Telebesitos Tip 💋
It’s Angelique and Sebastián, so yes, you’re watching. But we’re side-eyeing Netflix for normalizing that style-over-substance era, because now feels like it’s creeping into every network like a bad habit.
