Synopsis

Cuna de lobos (1986–1987) is a 170-episode Televisa landmark produced by Carlos Téllez and written by Carlos Olmos. Dark, surgical, and way ahead of its time, this is the novela that turned family drama into psychological warfare. At the center stands Catalina Creel (María Rubio), a matriarch so cold and calculated she doesn’t just run the Larios family – she controls it.

The façade cracks when her husband Carlos uncovers the truth: Catalina has been faking her blindness for decades, using it to manipulate her sons Alejandro (Alejandro Camacho) and José Carlos (Gonzalo Vega). Before he can expose her, Catalina acts fast – and fatally. His death ignites a ruthless inheritance battle where loyalty means nothing and survival means everything.

As Alejandro scrambles to secure an heir, he preys on the innocent Leonora Navarro (Diana Bracho), stealing her child and setting off a chain reaction he can’t contain. What he doesn’t expect is Leonora’s transformation – from grieving victim to relentless force – determined to take back what’s hers. Meanwhile, Catalina tightens her grip, eliminating threats with chilling precision, her signature eye patch becoming a symbol of control, deception, and quiet terror.

This is not a family. It’s a battlefield.

With its eerie tone, stripped-down score, and María Rubio’s iconic, bone-chilling performance, Cuna de lobos redefined what a telenovela could be. It’s a story about power, obsession, and the kind of evil that doesn’t need justification – only opportunity.
