Lo que la vida me robó (2013) is Televisa’s mega-hit rancho-novela where small-town love turns into a storm of obsession, power, and heartbreak. Montserrat (Angelique Boyer) is forced into marriage by her ambitious mother, only to get caught in a dangerous triangle between her true love and her powerful new husband.
Enter Alejandro (Sebastián Rulli), a humble-but-loaded heartthrob who basically buys her hand in marriage, while her true love, bad-boy José Luis, gets sent to prison. But you know novelas – no one stays gone for long, and love triangles turn into war zones. Life didn’t just rob Montserrat – it looted her dreams, rewrote her script, and cast her in a romance she never auditioned for.
Lo que la vida me robó is a classic for a reason, with peak novela chaos, luxe scenery, seaside stares, and emotional damage that goes hard. Expect intense confrontations, family betrayal, and the kind of over-the-top passion that makes every episode feel like a life-or-death showdown. This one is pure Fire & Drama with sweeping telenovela energy at its finest.

Love, lies, and 197 episodes later… we’re still invested.
What had us tipping our sombreros:
Lo que la vida me robó is a classic for a reason. The drama is served hot and fresh and the romance is intense enough to fog up your screen. The chemistry between Angelique Boyer and Sebastián Rulli is absolutely giving real-life lovers turned telenovela royalty. Their post-Teresa glow-up is on full display here and we are EATING IT UP.
Where the ranch got a little messy:
197 episodes?! Seriously, you could earn a degree in pretty much anything by the time this novela ends. Right around episode 70 the pacing starts dragging harder than a villain getting pulled offstage. Lose about 50 episodes of wandering plot and this would’ve been a full-blown rancho-novela legend.
Worth watching?
Absolutely. Is it formulaic? Sí. Is it long enough to be its own saga? También. But sometimes, you just want that old-school telenovela flair done right – and Lo que la vida me robó delivers.
Telebesitos Tip 💋
Skip the filler episodes when your finger starts twitching on the remote – but don’t skip the love story. Boyer and Rulli make this worth every melodramatic minute.
