Synopsis

What happens when a wealthy older man dies, only to return in the body of a much younger hottie? That’s El cuerpo del deseo (2005), Telemundo’s cult-classic starring Mario Cimarro and Lorena Rojas.

The show was a ratings phenomenon that blended supernatural drama with betrayal, desire, and second chances. Written by Julio Jiménez, it dives into a world where death isn’t the end – and sometimes, it’s just the beginning of something far more complicated.

At the center is Pedro José Donoso (Andrés García), a wealthy older man who seems to have it all, including a much younger wife, Isabel Arroyo (Lorena Rojas). But everything unravels the moment he dies suddenly of a heart attack. Instead of moving on, his soul lingers… and then does the impossible.

He comes back in another man’s body.

Pedro José awakens as Salvador Cerinza (Mario Cimarro), a young, humble man who died at the exact same moment. Returning to his own home as a stranger, he takes a job as the chauffeur to stay close and uncover the truth. What he finds is devastating – Isabel was never faithful, and alongside her lover Andrés Corona (Martín Karpan), she’s already moving on from his death like it meant nothing.

Fueled by obsession, heartbreak, and a second shot at life, Salvador must decide what matters most – revenge, redemption, or protecting his daughter Ángela. With Mario Cimarro delivering a standout dual performance, the story leans into identity, vanity, and the idea that the soul carries everything the body can’t. Because Pedro José may have a new face… but his past is very much alive.

Review

He died rich… and came back hotter

Why it’s a classic:
Mario Cimarro always plays brooding mystery like it’s his birthright, and Lorena Rojas brings raw emotion that makes Isabel’s every tear and confession hit hard. We still miss Lorena (RIP) – her grace, her fire, and that quiet strength she carried made her one of the greats.

Telebesitos Tip 💋
Look, you don’t watch this one for logic. You watch for drama so extra it practically levitates – there are moments where it goes full novela on steriods. But if you lean in and let the absurdity wash over you, it’s an absolute ride.
