Synopsis

The 2025 Mexican telenovela Amanecer throws us straight into the stormy life of Leonel Carranza, a landowner consumed by betrayal and tragedy.

Fernando Colunga plays Leonel Carranza, a man who had it all – until someone’s evil plan snatched it away in flames. Literally. After losing his daughter in a suspicious blaze and getting ditched by his wife, Leonel wants payback. His top suspect? The unlucky neighbor Alba Palacios (Livia Brito). And in true telenovela fashion, what’s his brilliant plan? Marry her. Because nothing says “revenge” like walking down the aisle with the woman you believe torched your family.

Alba, drowning in family debt, can’t exactly say no. But here’s the novela twist: hate almost always hides heartache. Soon enough, these forced newlyweds start feeling something a lot more dangerous than resentment.

Enter Sebastián Peñalosa (Daniel Elbittar) – a doctor with bedside manner straight out of a thriller. He’s supposed to be treating wounds at Leonel’s estate, but he’s really out there prescribing obsession, not medicine, and his eyes are locked on Alba. And then there’s Atocha, Leonel’s scheming sister the kind of villain aunt who turns every move into a power play. She’s not just plotting – she’s rewriting the whole game, and nobody’s safe.

Between passion, power moves, and a plantation full of secrets, one thing’s clear: revenge might’ve started this fire, but love could be the thing that burns them all.

Review

Where it shined bright:
Let’s start with the obvious: Fernando Colunga reminded everyone why he’s still the undisputed king of tortured leading men. Livia Brito carries this show like she’s got a point to prove – and delivers on every beat. And with Juan Osorio steering the ship, the whole thing comes wrapped in that glossy, go-big-or-go-home energy that practically screams blockbuster.

Where the light dimmed:
About that plot… Leonel forcing the woman he believes killed his daughter into marriage as some grand revenge scheme? Even by melodrama standards, it leans a little too unhinged, with a strong side of “this made sense to absolutely no one.” And about those villains – they had the actors, the wardrobe, the glare, the ominous music – but their arcs felt a little like someone skimmed a BuzzFeed listicle on “How to Be Evil” and called it a day.

Telebesitos Tip 💋
Yes, it’s catching heat from fans – and yes, we’re still watching. The cast delivers, the production shines, and even when logic clocks out, the drama clocks in.
