Synopsis

Love stories come and go in telenovelas, but A que no me dejas goes full generational melodrama. The first chapter centers on Paulina (Camila Sodi) and Adrián (Osvaldo Benavides), two lovers whose romance is doomed from the start thanks to scheming relatives, family secrets, and a villainous obsession that refuses to let them be happy. Their story burns bright but tragically short, ending in one of those classic novela moments where love survives… even when the lovers don’t.

Seventeen years later, fate circles back through the next generation. Paulina’s daughter Valentina (also played by Camila Sodi) reconnects with Mauricio (Ignacio Casano), the boy Paulina once protected and raised. As their bond grows into love, old enemies crawl out of the shadows, determined to repeat the past and keep happiness out of the Murat family for good.

Packed with jealous siblings, twisted vendettas, and enough destiny to make the universe blush, A que no me dejas is a full-on Televisa melodrama about love that refuses to stay buried.

Based on: Amor en silencio (1988)

Review

What gave it life:
Camila Sodi’s dual role gave her a full acting playground, and she proved she had the range. This novela helped cement her as a bona fide star. Alejandra Barros came in hot as Julieta, delivering a performance dialed up to 11 for the entire run. And say what you want about Laura Carmine, but her performance was pure fire.

What dragged it down:
The first half had some flow, but the second half was a little like swimming through molasses in a telenovela fog. At a certain point, whole scenes start slipping into plot purgatory.

Worth watching?
If you’re a Camila Sodi fan or appreciate a deliciously unhinged villain (all praise to Laura Carmine), this one should keep you entertained. It’s a showcase for its stars, even when the story struggles to keep pace.

Telebesitos Tip 💋
A que no me dejas is melodrama with a capital M. Stylish, emotional, and powered by complicated women (our favorite kind), but at 141 episodes, the fast-forward button may become your best friend.
