Inspired by the film A Better Life, Telemundo’s Bajo el Mismo Cielo (2016) serves up juicy secrets, street gangs, immigration struggles, and a romance so unexpected it’s almost unbelievable (cuz it kinda is). Carlos (Gabriel Porras) just wanted to mow lawns, not fall for a street-tough runaway. Living under the radar in L.A., this widowed gardener is doing his best to keep his youngest son on track while his eldest is already lost to the streets – but fate’s got other plans for our hero, and they’re dripping in drama.
Then he suddenly meets Adela (María Elisa Camargo), a fierce mujer on the run from gangs, grief, and her own dark past. When she hijacks Carlos’s truck (iconic novela meet-cute energy), neither expects sparks to fly… but one stolen ride later, they’re deep in star-crossed territory. Meanwhile, Felicia, the hopeless romantic bar owner nearby, (and queen of ignoring red flags) is dead set on making Carlos hers, no matter who’s in the way.
The love story in Bajo el mismo cielo is messy, dangerous, and totally addictive. And let’s just say… El amor no tiene papeles.

Telebesitos Tip 💋
It’s slow in spots but emotionally rich – and Carlos and Adela’s journey is so worth it. Just be prepared to skip a few filler eps (no shame, we all do it).
