The Queen of Flow (La reina del flow, 2018) is Colombia’s mic-drop revenge fantasy where betrayal drops harder than the bass. Yeimy Montoya (Carolina Ramírez) is a starry-eyed teen songwriter from Medellín with dreams of reggaetón glory – until her crush, Charly, stabs her in the back. He tricks her into smuggling drugs, sells her out, and then struts into fame on the stolen wings of her lyrics. Ouch.
Years later, Yeimy rises from the ashes as Tammy Andrade, a fierce, undercover producer with the DEA. Her mission? Tear down Charly’s empire track by track, reclaim her music, and maybe her crown – while serving nothing but looks, beats, and vengeance.
With an iconic soundtrack, plot twists that sting, and drama that refuses to stay on mute, The Queen of Flow reminds us that karma isn’t just real – it’s reggaetón royalty.
Where it found its groove:
Stylish, intense, and rhythmically bold, it’s a novela that knows exactly what kind of spectacle it wants to be – and mostly pulls it off. And Yeimy’s transformation from wide-eyed teen to hardened queen of flow hits all the right emotional notes.
Where it went flat:
If narco-novela vibes aren’t your thing, this might not be for you. There’s definitely some “pistolas and plotting” energy that feels more El Señor de los Cielos than Glee en español.
Worth watching?
If you like your drama with a beat and a bite, La reina del flow delivers. Just maybe stop after season one and leave on a high note .
Telebesitos Tip 💋
It’s Empire meets Rosario Tijeras, with Auto-Tune and eyeliner. The music in La reina del flow isn’t background, it’s basically the plot, so if you’re not into Regaetón – keep scrolling.
