Synopsis

Sortilegio (2009) is a remake of the 80’s heartbreaker Tú o nadie. The story kicks off with a ruthless scheme: a man fakes a marriage to steal his brother’s inheritance, dragging an innocent woman into a web of lies. But when the supposedly dead brother returns, the real drama begins. Love, revenge, and identity twists collide in a tale that’s as addictive as it is glamorous.

Bruno Albéniz (David Zepeda), desperate to steal the fortune of wealthy Alejandro Lombardo (William Levy), creates a twisted plan. He romances sweet, unsuspecting María José (Jacqueline Bracamontes) while pretending to be Alejandro, marries her in secret, then sabotages Alejandro’s plane so the new “widow” can inherit everything under Bruno’s control.

Simple plan. One problem.

Alejandro survives the crash with temporary amnesia and comes home to find a gorgeous stranger insisting she’s his wife. María José is trapped in a lie she never meant to tell, Bruno is spiraling to keep the scam alive, and Alejandro slowly starts falling for the woman connected to his betrayal. The marriage may be fake, but the feelings? Very real.

As threats, blackmail, and family power games pile up, Sortilegio becomes a delicious battle between deception and destiny. It’s a novela where identity is shaky, trust is expensive, and love shows up at the worst possible time.

Between Carla Estrada’s luxe production and finale ratings that pulled over 6.6 million viewers on Univisión, Sortilegio was peak 2000s novela glamour. It’s got love triangles, identity swaps, couture fashion, and revenge plots juicy enough to keep this one in the “classics” pile for years to come.

Review

Telebesitos Tip 💋
Sortilegio is the remake that turned William Levy into a religion. Save this one for when you’re in the mood for a novela that’s easy on the eyes and loaded with peak Televisa drama (the tropes are thriving in this one). It may not reinvent the wheel, but it’s a deeply satisfying ride for fans craving a little magic – and a lot of William Levy.
