Inspired by the iconic Venezuelan novel Doña Bárbara, La Doña (2016) is Telemundo’s dark, modern revenge saga about Altagracia Sandovall, staring Aracely Arámbula as a glamorous, ruthless businesswoman who built an empire on ambition, manipulation, and sheer force of will. Known across the city as “La Doña,” she rules the construction world with power suits, icy confidence, and a reputation for destroying anyone who crosses her path. But behind the steel exterior is a past marked by brutal trauma and injustice that fuels her obsession with revenge against the men who ruined her life.
As Altagracia hunts down the powerful men responsible, her world gets even messier when she falls for the idealistic lawyer Saúl Aguirre (David Chocarro) – the one man who might soften her hardened heart. Meanwhile, a young woman named Mónica (Danna Paola) is fighting to build a humble life of her own… unaware that fate is about to connect her to La Doña in the most explosive way possible.
Packed with vengeance, seduction, betrayals, and big power moves, La Doña delivers a darker, fiercer kind of melodrama. Think glamorous villain energy, moral gray zones, and a heroine who bites back harder than anyone expected.
Telebesitos Tip 💋
If vengeance had a designer handbag and a killer blowout, her name would be La Doña. This is the drama that asks: what is justice when the system fails you? If you’re down for a high-drama revenge fantasy with serious social commentary and a heroine who redefines “main character energy,” then La Doña is calling your name.
