Synopsis

Rubí (2004) is the ultimate baddie telenovela – serving looks, lies, and luxury with zero apologies. There’s a reason this novela is considered one of the Best Telenovelas of All Time. This iconic Mexican series gave us villain-era perfection with every hair flip and savage one-liner. Greed, obsession, and desire fuel this delicious spiral, and Rubí owns every second of it. A novela so fierce, it made sin look stylish.

At the center is Rubí Pérez (Bárbara Mori), stunning, sharp, and absolutely done with being poor.

Living in a modest vecindad while attending university, Rubí decides her beauty isn’t just a blessing – it’s leverage. When she befriends the wealthy and kind-hearted Maribel (Jacqueline Bracamontes), she gains access to a world she’s always felt entitled to. But where Maribel sees friendship, Rubí sees opportunity.

And she’s willing to go all the way.

Caught between genuine love with the handsome but middle-class Alejandro Cárdenas (Eduardo Santamarina) and the allure of wealth, Rubí makes her move. In one of the most iconic betrayals in novela history, she leaves Alejandro behind and seduces Maribel’s billionaire fiancé, Héctor Ferrer (Sebastián Rulli), fleeing with him on what was supposed to be his wedding day.

With its unforgettable theme “La Descarada,” high-glam style, and a bold villain-as-protagonist at its core, Rubí dives headfirst into vanity, envy, and emotional self-destruction. It’s a story of penthouses, power plays, and consequences – because getting everything you want doesn’t mean you get to keep it.

Review

Telebesitos Tip 💔
Rubí set the gold standard for glam villains. Bárbara Mori became Rubí so completely that 20 years on, anytime she shows up, the brain short-circuits to one thought: Rubí. She’s a femme fatale with feelings – and that’s what makes her dangerous.
